Press release: Art Austria 2013. An Austrian Success Story.

The 2013 art trade fair Art Austria will be held from 11 - 14 April in the Leopold Museum, MuseumsQuartier Vienna. With new opening hours (starting at 11.00 am, open until 9.00 pm on Thursday, until 7.00 pm on Friday and Saturday and until 6.00 pm on Sunday), the trade fair will present Austrian art in a compact and tried-and-true form. 45 presenters will exhibit art exclusively from Austria on three floors of the Leopold Museum over an area of 2,450 m².

The quality of the respective galleries and/or art dealers and the position of their artists is critical at Art Austria.

Art from Austria earns high prices at auctions and consistently enjoys a great deal of popularity. For this reason, 2013 will feature an appreciation of Austrian artists for the first time and premieres will be made at Art Austria. On Thursday, 11 April 2013, a number of prizes, each of € 10,000, will be awarded by an expert and prominent jury. All presenters can nominate artists in the categories "forgotten, forsaken, underestimated", "established, arrived" and "young, emerging". The jury will determine the prize winners.

Art Austria magazine, our information and marketing medium published for the first time in 2012 and recognised from the start, will reach new target groups in 2013 with an expanded print run of 170,000 copies. Inserted within the newspapers Presses, Standard and Kurirer on the weekend before the start of the trade fair, it makes an essential contribution to the artistic discussion of Austrian art. Renowned international and national journalists ensure interesting and high-quality articles in the Art Austria magazine. We are especially excited about a foreword from Barbara Catoir, which is to be seen as a keynote speech and historical document of a contemporary witness.

The expanded approach to reach prospective and, most of all, young art buyers can be seen by our activities on facebook.artaustria.info and the editions contest offered for the first time in 2013 on the facebook.artaustria.info homepage. 50 editions will be given away in a contest before the start of the trade fair.

Art Austria virtual is a project to present the entire trade fair on the Internet. A team of photographers and IT specialists will photograph each trade fair booth the night before the opening and program inquiry links via e-mail or text message for each work of art exhibited. With this, Art Austria will be the first trade fair in the world to stay open for 24 hours around the clock.

The 2013 Art Austria also offers a culinary highlight. Our catering partner Sim & More will run a trade fair restaurant that will be open daily. Breakfast, dishes of the day and a sweet buffet with food under the umbrella brand Sim Fair will be prepared sustainably and organically and the food will come from the region.

We hope that our new measures will continue to increase the number of visitors from 2012 (15,644) and thus present for the sixth time a trade fair with art from Austria that is one-of-a-kind within the national and international canon with a unique selling proposition and a clear profile.
